Research

The French photographer Sebastien del Grosso explored various ways to express himself creatively. At a young age the photographer sought to explore the fields of drawing and painting, because he thought that these skills would create vast amounts of pathways, including concept designing, 2D animation, and photography  were his first choice, and they paved the way to his profession as a Graphic Designer.

In this particular example, it shows how he combines the two styles of art and photography to initially gain the unique goal he is trying to obtain. Due to the creativity of this style, it allows it to stand out towards the audience, making them think twice before judging the final outcome. For this style he takes a photograph of him/other people and imports it to photoshop where he then uses his creativity to add art into the mixture. The difference in contrast and saturation make the production stand-out even more as one part has colour and the other does not. This difference makes the image stand out drastically, It also sets the tone of creativity by providing artists with a sense of inspiration through a visual representation of a work in progress. Overall the outcome was very appealing to me, once I saw this style, I instantly knew what I wanted to produce for this unit.

ARTnews:

ARTnews is an art based magazine which greatly focuses on modern art, fashion, retrospective art, and general entertainment. This magazine was founded in 1902, making ARTnews the oldest and most widely circulated art magazine in the world. Its viewers and readers consist upto 180,000 worldwide, this also includes collectors, historians, artists, museum directors, and enthusiasts (mixture of gender). This magazine content of the magazine that appear inside are attached to this audience, meaning that they are often high quality masterpieces such as retrospective artwork e.g Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Frida Kahlo. The layout and the feel that this magazine has is also very unique and creative which reflects it's content with more passion.

Through this research the production of my photography I decided to implement his unique artistic skills within my photography; these skills consisted of sketching, colouring, smudging, and patterning. This choice was very simple to conclude because of my love for art and photography. I particularly enjoy the freedom and creativeness that the two sectors provide,  allowing me to expand on my imagination which will essentially allow me to produce masses of content with fantastic outcomes, such as the examples provided in this blog. This style of photography is very interesting as it provides the audience with a blur and enthusiasm, additionally showing scenes of the actual model being created (theoretically) also providing the audience with a sense of creativity and excitement throughout the production in general. For these specific compostions I simply drew over my face on photoshop on one layer, then removed the background on the other layer, allowing me to achieve a relatively similar outcome to the original artist.
